United States Reimposes Naval Blockade on Iranian Ports, Iran Announces Full Withdrawal From MoU, Strikes Began
New Delhi, July 15, 2026 [VoM News]: Once again, the region has turned into turmoil, as the United States and Iran are moving towards the escalation of the war. In a major event of escalation, the United States has reimposed its naval blockade on Iranian ports, which officially came into effect at 2000 GMT.
The blockade was reimposed after the United States accuses Tehran of attacking commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to another wave of tensions, and making the interim ceasefire collapse.
Following the ceasefire deal, the blockade was lifed, which firstly was imposed in mid-April, now again has been reinstated after negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme stalled and hostilities in the strategic waterway intensified.
Though, the interim agreement had provided a 60-day window for both sides to negotiate a permanent settlement, but now as Iran has reacted sharply by announcing the complete withdrawal from Memorandum of Understanding with United States.
Ahead of reimposing the blockade, the United States forces carried out another round of strikes targeting the capable Iranian assets responsible of attacking commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump withdrew his earlier proposal to impose a 20 per cent fee on ships passing through the strait, stating the Gulf allies vision to expand trade and investment with the United States.
Now, as Iran withdraws, after it accuses Washington of violating the agreement and is no longer bound by the terms of the truce.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that Tehran would exercise full sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and ruled out any fresh negotiations with Washington.
He also asserted that Iran would defend its interests regardless of the consequences.
Reportedly, the commercial and military-linked vessels in the Strait of Hormuz has been attacked by Iran, as Behrain, Kuwait, Jordan and allies has activated air defence systems.
Some reports says, there were multiple blasts in the region also.
The global leaders are appealing to both nations to exercise constraints as stay bond to agreement, however, the closure of key energy route will be the killer miller to the global economy.
