UAE Energy Minister Attends Southern Gas Corridor Meeting in Azerbaijan
Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, led the UAE’s delegation to Azerbaijan for the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council and the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council. The meetings, attended by representatives from 23 countries, international organizations, and companies, were inaugurated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Azerbaijan’s President Highlights SGC Success
President Aliyev hailed the Southern Gas Corridor as a success story, emphasizing its significance in Eurasia’s infrastructure projects. He noted its role in enhancing energy security and fostering cooperation among participating nations.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Minister Al Mazrouei and the UAE delegation held discussions with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy and Chairman of the UAE-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission, Mikayil Jabbarov, and Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including economic, energy, renewable energy, and energy security.
Shared Vision for Sustainable Development
Minister Al Mazrouei emphasized the deep-rooted and expansive relationship between the UAE and Azerbaijan, extending beyond trade and economic cooperation. He highlighted the shared vision for a prosperous future built on renewable energy and sustainable development, with strong support from the leadership of both countries.
UAE Delegation Members
The UAE delegation included senior officials from government agencies and the private sector, including the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Masdar, ADNOC, and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA). The meetings aimed to strengthen collaboration in the energy sector and promote sustainable development initiatives.
