    Key Highlights:

    Continuing its aggressive crackdown on drug trafficking, the Nagrota Police Station in Jammu achieved a significant breakthrough on August 20, 2024.

    Acting on credible intelligence, a police team led by the SHO of Nagrota intercepted a vehicle carrying heroin and cash in the jurisdiction of Police Station Nagrota.

    The police team had received a tip-off that a vehicle, a Venue car with registration number HP 33AA-1889, was transporting a consignment of heroin from Jammu to Srinagar.

    In response, a special checkpoint was set up at TCP Nagrota. The police successfully intercepted the vehicle and, upon searching it, recovered 305 grams of heroin (commonly known as Chitta) along with cash amounting to ₹1,98,400.

    The two individuals apprehended in connection with the incident have been identified as Khursheed Ahmad Wani, son of Mohd. Shafi Wani, a resident of Lower Munda, Qazigund, and Adil Sharief Dar, son of Mohd.

    Sharief Dar, a resident of Darpora, Banihal. Both suspects were taken into custody, and the vehicle was seized.

    A case under FIR No. 227/24 U/S 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities conducting thorough interrogations to trace the origins and networks involved in the drug supply chain.

    The Jammu & Kashmir Police continue their committed efforts to eradicate drug abuse, particularly among the youth.

    The public is urged to collaborate with the police by reporting any suspicious drug-related activities by dialing 100. The police assure the community that all informants’ identities will remain confidential.
