TikTok has released its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Q1 2024, detailing its content moderation efforts. The platform removed 20.2 million videos in Pakistan alone, part of a global total of 66,997,307 videos taken down for violating community guidelines, representing about 0.9% of all uploaded content during the period.
Key Highlights from the Report:
- Automated Detection: A large majority of the removals were executed through automated detection technologies, with 129,335,793 videos identified and removed this way globally. Following reviews, 6,042,287 videos were reinstated.
- Comment Moderation: Nearly 976,479,946 comments were removed or filtered using TikTok’s safety tools.
- Spam Accounts: TikTok has implemented measures against spam accounts to prevent the spread of automated spam content, enhancing content moderation practices.
- Proactive Removal: 93.9% of violating videos were removed within 24 hours of posting, with a proactive removal rate of 99.8% globally.
- Youth Safety: TikTok deleted 21,639,414 accounts suspected of belonging to individuals under the age of 13 to safeguard younger users.
