Three drug peddlers arrested, 9 grams of heroin seized by Jammu Police

Jammu, 28.08.2024 : In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, the R.S. Pura Police have successfully apprehended three individuals involved in drug peddling. The arrests were made as part of Operation SANJEEVANI, a sustained effort by the Jammu Police to combat the menace of drug abuse in the region. The police seized 9 grams of heroin from the accused during the operation.
The arrest occurred on 27.08.2024 when a police team from the R.S. Pura station, led by SHO PS R.S. Pura, was conducting routine patrolling.
The team, assisted by other police officials, set up a checkpoint (Naka) at Burey De Kothey, Near Lovely Palace as part of their efforts to monitor suspicious activities in the area. During the operation, they intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AL-9025 with three suspicious individuals.
The suspects were later identified as Amit Singh, son of Swaran Lal of Bidhipur Jattan, Suchetgarh, Jammu; Mohd Saleem, son of Mohd Rasheed of Karowa, Jaganoo, Udhampur; and Vishal Kumar, son of Kewal Krishan of Nandpur, Miran Sahib, R.S. Pura, Jammu. Upon searching the suspects, the police recovered 9 grams of heroin from their possession.
A case has been registered against the accused under FIR No. 189/2024 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (8/21/22/29/60) at the R.S. Pura Police Station. All three accused have been arrested, and further investigation into the case is currently ongoing.
The Jammu Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes and have urged citizens to remain vigilant. They encourage the public to report any suspicious activities, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential to ensure their safety.
