
Vishwesh Negi Appointed India’s Next Ambassador to Iran
New Delhi, Aug. 5 [VoM News]: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday announced the appointment of senior diplomat Vishwesh Negi as India’s next Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
A 2002-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, Negi is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs. He is expected to assume his new assignment shortly.
In an official statement, the MEA said, “Vishwesh Negi, presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

His appointment comes at a time when West Asia continues to witness heightened tensions following the escalation of conflict that began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched military strikes on Iran, prompting retaliatory action from Tehran.
India has consistently called for restraint and has maintained that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path to restoring peace, stability and security in the region.
