Siddaramaiah Urges Leaders to Join Chalo Delhi Protest
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has invited leaders, including Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Pralhad Joshi, to join the ‘Chalo Delhi’ protest over tax devolution and grants-in-aid to the state. The demonstration, not against any party, seeks justice for Karnataka’s tax share and grant allocation grievances.
Dharani Satyagraha at Jantar Mantar
Siddaramaiah announced a ‘dharani satyagraha’ at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, emphasizing that the protest aims to address injustice and discrimination in the central government’s union system. He urged leaders to set aside partisanship for the benefit of Karnataka and its people.
Deputy CM’s Call for Non-Partisan Struggle
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar urged MLAs to forget party lines and participate in the non-partisan struggle for justice in Delhi. The protest, he stressed, is not against the BJP, aiming to seek justice for Kannadigas and the Kannada nation.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya declined the invitation, stating he will address a press conference in Delhi to expose the Congress government in Karnataka. The ongoing debate over tax devolution and perceived discrimination against non-BJP states continues, with Union Finance Minister Sitharaman dismissing the allegations as a politically motivated narrative.
