Security Forces Launch Search Operation in Akhnoor After Locals Spot Suspects
SRINAGAR: Security forces on Thursday launched a sustained search operation in the Samah area of Akhnoor after a local youth reported seeing a group of suspected individuals during the night, officials said.
According to official sources, a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Special Operations Group initiated searches after receiving information that three to four suspicious persons were allegedly spotted moving in the area late on Wednesday night. The sighting was reported by a local inhabitant, following which security agencies immediately activated ground-level verification.
Early Thursday morning, multiple teams were deployed across vulnerable points in the Samah area, with a particular focus on Samah Nallah and adjoining pockets of the Sumah belt. The operation involves thorough combing of forested patches, nullahs and possible movement routes to rule out the presence of any suspicious elements.

Officials said the search operation is being carried out in a coordinated manner, with checkpoints established at key locations to monitor movement and ensure area security. Additional personnel have been deployed to maintain vigilance and prevent any possible escape routes.
So far, no contact or recovery has been reported, and the operation remains ongoing. Security agencies said the situation is under control and urged locals to remain calm while cooperating with the forces.
Authorities have also advised inhabitants to immediately report any unusual movement or activity in their surroundings, stating that timely information plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and security in the region. (KNT)
