
Sasaram-Patna Passenger Train Catches Fire Near Sasaram Junction in Bihar
PATNA, MAY 18, 2026 [VoM News]: Early this morning, a passenger train on its way from Sasaram to Patna caught fire near Sasaram Junction railway station in Bihar.
As per details available with VoM News, a blaze was reported in one of the coaches of the moving Sasaram-Patna passenger train.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the affected coach of the train. Soon, fire tenders and railway personnel rushed to the site to contain the blaze.
One coach suffered extensive damage, according to initial reports.
Preliminary findings have indicated a short circuit as the possible cause of the fire. However, authorities are carrying out safety inspections.

A similar fire incident was also reported in the Rajdhani Express near Ratlam, raising serious concerns and prompting demands for a nationwide audit of fire safety systems in railway infrastructure.
