
Samba, May 23, 2025: Continuing its drive against the sale of illicit liquor in the district, Samba Police has arrested two bootleggers and recovered 65 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession in the jurisdiction of Police Stations Samba and Bari Brahmana.
Acting on reliable information regarding sale of illicit liquor, a police party of Police Station Samba intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK02AF-4621 at Manohar Gopala near Hanuman Mandir and recovered 30 bottles of Desi liquor of 750 ml each from the possession of the rider. The arrested motorcyclist has been identified as Jasvinder Singh S/o Jagan Singh R/o Pangdour tehsil & district Samba who was indulged in selling of illicit liquor to general public.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 150/2025 under Section 48(a) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
Similarly in another incident, a police team of PS Bari Brahmana arrested a person namely Vinod Bhardwaj S/o Bharat Lal R/o Chhattisgarh A/P Bari Brahmana during raid on the shop at Labour Chowk Telli Basti Bari Brahmana and recovered 35 bottles of JK Special Whisky of 180ml each from his possession. The said bootlegger was indulged in selling of illicit liquor to general public in the area.
A case FIR No. 75/2025 under Section 48(f) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana and investigation started.
