Results from Nagesh Trophy – Men’s National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2023-24
On Monday, Odisha in Group C and Madhya Pradesh along with Telangana in Group D secured victories in the ongoing sixth edition of the Nagesh Trophy – Men’s National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind.
In Group C’s opening match held in Kochi, Kerala emerged victorious, defeating Bihar by 35 runs. Scoring 126/6 in 13 overs, Kerala restricted Bihar to 91/4 in response. Md Farhan’s remarkable 51 runs off 34 balls earned him the Player of the Match title. In another Group C clash, Odisha displayed dominance, thrashing Jharkhand with a convincing nine-wicket victory. Jharkhand, opting to bat first, managed only 39/10 in the 17th over, setting a target easily chased down by Odisha in just 21 balls. Debaraj Behera, claiming three wickets, was named the Player of the Match.
Shifting focus to Group D, Madhya Pradesh secured a thrilling six-wicket win against Chandigarh in a high-scoring encounter. Chandigarh posted 208/8 in 20 overs, but Madhya Pradesh chased down the target in the 18th over, led by Rampal Uike’s match-winning century. Rampal earned the Player of the Match for his exceptional performance. In another Group D match, Telangana defeated West Bengal by 27 runs. Despite Surojit Ghora’s impressive 129 runs in 72 balls for West Bengal, K Shiva Shankar from Telangana, scoring 86 runs, was awarded the Player of the Match.
Jammu & Kashmir and Karnataka currently lead Group E and Group B, respectively. In Tuesday’s matches, teams from Group C (Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Kerala) and Group D (Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chandigarh, West Bengal) will compete.
The ongoing tournament, which began on November 23, commenced with Group E matches at the University of Jammu. The League stage will continue till December 29, 2023, with the final scheduled for February 2, 2024.
