
Relief For PoJK Displaced Persons In Jammu as J-k Govt Clarifies on Eligibility for ST Certificate under Pahari Category
The Displaced Families in Jammu can now avail Schedule Tribe Category certificate under Pahari Category, as Area Of Residence is not a criteria for achieving the certificate, J-K Govt Clarifies in the assembly.
The Scheduled Tribe Certificate could be granted under Pahari Ethnic Group, as it was clarified by the Minister For Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo while replying a question asked by BJP MLA Narinder Singh.
As Rule 21 of the Jammu Kashmir Reservation Rules, 2005 governs on the issuances of certificates, in which, a person is eligible, if they are from Pahari community and has distinct cultural and linguistic identity, speak Pahari as mother tongue, and also possess the supporting documents like Adhar, Voter Card, and Domicile certificate. The concerned Tehsildar is bound to issue the certificate after the verification of documents.
It would be a sigh of relief for thousand of applicants, settled in Jammu district who had applied for the certificates, but were rejected by the tehsildars on different grounds.
