Rahul Dravid Clarifies KL Rahul’s Role as Wicketkeeper in Test Series Against England
India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, clarified that KL Rahul will not play as a wicketkeeper in the upcoming five-match Test series against England. The series is set to commence on Thursday in Hyderabad. Dravid mentioned that although Rahul has excelled behind the stumps, the squad includes two proficient wicketkeepers, KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel, who will be considered for the role.
Inspired Decision Based on Series Duration and Conditions
Dravid emphasized that the decision regarding Rahul’s role was made clear during the selection process. Considering the five-match Test series and the playing conditions, the competition for the wicketkeeper position will be between the other two keepers in the squad. While acknowledging Rahul’s impressive performance in South Africa, Dravid highlighted the need to manage resources effectively throughout the series.

India will enter the first two Tests without Virat Kohli, who opted out of the squad due to personal reasons. Rohit Sharma will lead the team, with Jasprit Bumrah serving as vice-captain. The squad includes a strong pace attack featuring Avesh Khan, Mohammed Siraj, and Mukesh Kumar.
