Priyanka Gandhi Joins Bharat-Jodo-Nyay-Yatra in Uttar Pradesh on February 24
In a significant development, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is set to join the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, a nationwide campaign led by former party chief Rahul Gandhi. Sources reveal that Priyanka Gandhi will kick-start her participation in the yatra from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on February 24. This comes after her earlier disappointment when she had to miss the yatra on February 16 due to health issues.
The Congress leader expressed her eagerness to be part of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in a recent social media post, stating, “I was really looking forward to receiving the BJNY in UP today, but unfortunately, have ended up admitted to the hospital. I will be there as soon as I am better!” She also extended her best wishes to the yatris, her colleagues in UP, and her brother Rahul Gandhi.
Recovery and Resumption of Yatra
Following her admission to Sir Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi for dehydration and a stomach infection, Priyanka Gandhi has now been discharged after receiving treatment. This development indicates her commitment to actively participating in the yatra despite the temporary setback.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi, the former Congress chief, resumed his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. This yatra is part of a larger initiative covering 15 states as Rahul Gandhi crisscrosses the country from Manipur to Mumbai in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Significance of Amethi in Congress Strategy
Amethi, a historically significant constituency and a Congress stronghold in Uttar Pradesh, holds particular importance in the party’s electoral strategy. In the 2019 elections, Rahul Gandhi faced defeat in Amethi, losing to Smriti Irani by a margin of around 55,000 votes. The current yatra aims to reconnect with voters in Amethi and other regions, building momentum for the Congress party ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha polls anticipated to be held in April-May this year.
Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’s Ambitious Route
The Congress’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ succeeding the earlier ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ is a comprehensive campaign covering a distance of 6,700 km through 15 states. With the Lok Sabha elections looming, the party is strategically engaging with voters and addressing key issues in diverse regions, reinforcing its commitment to national development and justice.
