Prime Minister Modi Flags Off Heritage Train on National Unity Day
On National Unity Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first heritage train of Gujarat from Ekta Nagar to Ahmedabad. This momentous occasion marks a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, on his birth anniversary. The heritage train is designed to enhance the travel experience of passengers and tourists visiting the Statue of Unity from Ahmedabad.
A Journey of Nostalgia and Heritage
The heritage train aims to create a memorable journey for people visiting the Statue of Unity, adding a touch of nostalgia to their experience. With a unique heritage look, the train transports passengers to the bygone era of ‘steam’ engine locomotives. It is a fusion of history and modernity, offering passengers a glimpse into the charm of traditional steam engine locomotives while connecting them to the marvels of modern engineering.
Amenities and Features
The heritage train boasts various amenities and features, including panoramic windows with roller blinds, an air-conditioned restaurant dining car with teak wood dining tables and cushioned seats, and interior panels crafted from natural teak veneered plywood. Warm, natural white lighting creates an inviting atmosphere on board. The train also features modular toilets with high-quality fittings, GPS-based public address and passenger information systems, luggage racks similar to Tejas Express coaches, and electrically operated automatic compartment sliding doors.
The exterior of the train is adorned with PU paint and theme-based vinyl wrapping, creating an ambience that resonates with the heritage theme. Another unique aspect is the flameless pantry, which is equipped with stainless steel, electrically operated equipment and enhanced interiors, providing a luxurious dining experience for passengers.
Fine Dining and Fare
In addition to the air-conditioned executive chair car coaches, the train offers a dedicated restaurant car that provides a fine dining experience. The heritage train accommodates 144 passengers, and the fare, excluding meals, is Rs 885.
Connecting Ekta Nagar to the Statue of Unity
Ekta Nagar railway station serves as a pivotal link for passengers traveling to the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue. This heritage train, a fitting tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, offers a unique experience for travelers, blending history with modern amenities and a glimpse into the bygone era of Indian railways. It is set to become a new attraction for tourists and enthusiasts alike, bridging the gap between the charm of traditional steam engine locomotives and the wonders of modern engineering.
