President Murmu Appoints Nine New Governors Across Indian States

New Delhi, July 28: In a significant reshuffle, President Droupadi Murmu has appointed nine new Governors across various states, according to a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan. Veteran BJP leader and former Union Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been named the Governor of Jharkhand.
Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde is appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan, while Jishnu Dev Varma will take charge as the Governor of Telangana.
Other notable appointments include Om Prakash Mathur as the Governor of Sikkim and Ramen Deka as the Governor of Chhattisgarh. Additionally, C. H. Vijayashankar has been appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya.
C. P. Radhakrishnan, who currently holds the position of Governor of Jharkhand with additional responsibilities for Telangana, has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra. Gulab Chand Kataria, the current Governor of Assam, will now serve as the Governor of Punjab and also as the Administrator of Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the Governor of Sikkim, has been given the additional charge of Assam and Manipur.
In a related development, President Murmu has accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit from his roles as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
These appointments will take effect from the dates the new Governors assume charge of their respective offices, as stated by Rashtrapati Bhavan.
These changes mark a significant realignment in the governance of these states and territories, reflecting the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure effective administration and leadership across the nation.
