During the recently concluded Budget session, Prime Minister Modi reiterated a statement made by former Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, who, according to Modi, considered Indians ‘lazy’ and ‘less intelligent.’ Emphasizing the lack of faith in the country’s potential by past leaders, Modi pointed out that the Red Fort was once a platform for branding Indians as sadists and individuals prone to accepting defeat easily.
“When the leadership of the country is filled with so much pessimism, then how will optimism spread in the country,” questioned Prime Minister Modi, drawing attention to the impact of negative perceptions on national morale.

In a direct assault on the Congress party during the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address, Modi asserted that the country had endured the detrimental ‘mindset’ of the grand old party. “There is a powerful launchpad of 10 years which has made the world think that our country is ready to take the next big leap. This happened because a change in the mindset that has happened,” concluded Prime Minister Modi, signaling a shift in the narrative surrounding India’s capabilities.
