MLA Doda Mehraj Malik Responds after People Block Thathri-Kilothran Road in Doda
MLA Doda Mehraj Malik released a video statement after the protest took place at Kilothran-Thathri road. The protest was organised by the people of Chinyas and Amritpura regarding the road connectivity. The protestors blocked the highway, demanding the immediate construction of the road. The protestors alleged that police used force, lathicharge.
MLA Doda Mehraj Malik, while releasing a video statement to a news channel, stated that the anger of the people is justified, as the demand is not new; it’s an old demand. The MLA stated that he has given the funds for the said road since he was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly. He has taken the matter up with the concerned body also, but they are eagerly waiting for the funds to be released by the government.
Social Activist Waseem Tak Bhallesi alleged that on the directions of MLA Doda, Mehraj Malik, the lathi charge was carried out on the innocent protestors. Waseem said this is one of the historic act, which has never been witnessed that use of force was carried out on protestors.
Even some people on social media also stated that administration controls law and order situation, now in union territory setup, and how can powerless MLA do this.
Second International Mother Tongue Journalist Conference slated from 13 June in Kathmandu
MLA Doda further stated he raised the issue of money/fund circulation during the first session of the Assembly. He added that in Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Finance Department has been given the additional powers of the Planning Department, which is the main issue. The Planning Department should conduct the planning purposes, and the Finance Department should conduct the financial survey.
The MLA stated that he is the only one who raised the issue of money circulation in Jammu and Kashmir. As the Centre releases the funds during the November sessions, the money gets lapsed due to unfavorable climatic/weather conditions. He stated that Jammu and Kashmir is one of the major states where money gets lapsed.
Mehraj demanded that the Centre and Union Territory government should consider the seriousness of the case and urgency of the public issues, and release the funds so that work execution is done timely and money does not get lapsed.
