    Minor Driving Case: Doda Police Book Father Under MV Act

    Doda Police have taken firm action against traffic law violators by booking the owner of an Alto car (registration number JK06A/2434) for permitting his underage son to drive the vehicle. The incident took place in Doda town, where the minor ended up hitting and injuring a pedestrian.

    According to information from Police Station Doda, a Maruti car driven recklessly by a minor (name withheld) was heading from Bus Stand towards Tondwah Nagri. Upon reaching the Y-junction on Bharat Road, the vehicle struck a pedestrian. The juvenile driver not only harmed others but also put his own life at risk.

    Acting swiftly, the Doda Police team under the supervision of Inspector Parvaiz Khanday, SHO PS Doda, registered an FIR No. 83/2025 under sections 281 and 125(a)/125 of the BNS. The father of the minor, identified as Nar Singh, son of Prem Singh, resident of Bagla Bharat, was also charged under Section 199 of the Motor Vehicles Act for allowing a minor to operate the vehicle. The car involved in the incident has been seized, and further investigation is currently underway.

    Meanwhile, the Doda Police have intensified their crackdown on traffic violations across the district, registering several FIRs and impounding vehicles for overloading and other infractions. SSP Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta (JKPS) has issued a strong warning to parents and vehicle owners, emphasizing that legal action will be taken against those who allow minors or unauthorized persons to drive their vehicles.
