
Minor 3.1 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Dhubri in Assam
In the early hours of Sunday, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 shook the Dhubri district of Assam, according to an official statement. The National Center for Seismology reported that the seismic event occurred at 3:01 am and reached a depth of 17 kilometers.
The National Center for Seismology (NCS) took to a social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, to provide details about the earthquake. Their statement read, “On 1st October 2023, at 03:01:33 IST, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 was recorded in Dhubri, Assam, India. The coordinates for this seismic event are Latitude: 26.08 and Longitude: 90.05, with a depth of 17 kilometers.” They also mentioned another recent earthquake, saying, “On 25th September 2023, at 08:35:54 IST, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 occurred in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, India, with coordinates Latitude: 31.07 and Longitude: 77.98, at a depth of 5 kilometers.”

Earlier in September, mild earthquakes measuring 2.8 and 2.1 on the Richter Scale were reported in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi and Chamba districts.
