Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a graphic poster targeting Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. She accused the BJP of displaying frustration with the INDIA alliance and stated that their tactics, including divisive strategies, had failed. Mufti questioned whether the BJP’s actions align with the principles of ‘Santana Dharma’ and criticized them for creating division within the country.

Mufti’s comments came in response to a controversial graphic poster shared by the BJP, featuring Rahul Gandhi with a depiction reminiscent of the mythical character Ravana, with seven heads. The Congress party condemned the poster as “shameful” and accused the BJP of having nefarious intentions, suggesting they want to harm Gandhi. They also highlighted the withdrawal of Gandhi’s SPG protection for political purposes.

KC Venugopal, Congress general secretary, expressed condemnation and said that no words are enough to criticize such actions. He pointed out that Rahul Gandhi has experienced the assassination of his grandmother and father, and accused the BJP of using such tactics for political gains.

The BJP had shared the graphic poster on social media, captioning it with accusations against Rahul Gandhi and linking him to billionaire investor George Soros, who has faced allegations of involvement in anti-India activities. The poster has sparked a debate on social media, with diverse opinions on its symbolism and intent.
