Meeting in Doda Addresses Court Case Challenges, Calls for Improvements
In a recent meeting led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Harvinder Singh and SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom, officials gathered at the mini hall of the DC office complex in Doda. The primary focus was to evaluate the progress and obstacles encountered by government departments in managing court cases. The meeting was attended by Prosecution Officers overseen by Deputy Director of Prosecution, DKR Range, Satish Sharma. Several key issues were highlighted, including manpower shortages, salary concerns, and hurdles affecting the prosecution process in the subordinate courts of District Doda and Bhaderwah.
Prosecution officials emphasized the challenges impeding successful convictions in criminal and civil cases, citing insufficient manpower and salary-related problems. They also pointed out the lack of coordination between district courts and government departments as a major impediment to case progress.
Acknowledging the need for streamlined processes, the DC and other officials stressed the urgency of addressing NCORD cases and urged officers to prioritize them for swift resolution. The meeting highlighted the importance of adopting strategic approaches in prosecuting drug supply cases.
The rising number of pending court cases was attributed primarily to manpower shortages, exacerbated by salary discrepancies within the department. The standing council members highlighted constraints impacting the prosecution process, emphasizing the necessity for improved coordination.
In response, the DC urged immediate action on crucial court cases to ensure timely justice. He requested comprehensive information on court cases from various government departments, emphasizing the significance of regular meetings to address concerns and enhance prosecution handling. Officers were instructed to promptly report the conviction of government employees and avoid incorrect FIR practices during prosecution procedures.
