In a sweeping two-day operation, Pune Police have uncovered a staggering 1,100 kilograms of the banned drug Mephedrone, commonly known as ‘Meow Meow,’ with an estimated value surpassing Rs 2,500 crore. This groundbreaking effort involved coordinated raids in Pune and New Delhi, beginning with the arrest of three drug smugglers in Pune and the seizure of 700 kg of Mephedrone. Subsequent investigations led to the discovery of an additional 400 kg in Delhi’s Hauz Khas area and another substantial consignment in Pune’s Kurkumbh MIDC area.

The scale of this drug bust sets a record as the largest-ever recovery by Pune Police in Maharashtra, standing out as one of the most significant drug seizures in the country. Preliminary findings suggest a well-organized transportation route from Kurkumbh MIDC-based units to storage facilities in New Delhi. The police have arrested five individuals, including three couriers, and are intensively investigating potential connections within the drug trade.

Commissioner Kumar’s Vigilant Approach: Pune Police Collaborates for a Thorough Probe

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar described the arrested individuals as “courier boys” and highlighted their prior criminal records. Commissioner Kumar emphasized the meticulous investigation underway, with close collaboration among various agencies to dismantle any potential links within the drug supply network.
