Massive Blaze Engulfs Lucknow Furniture-Market: ₹20 Lakh Property Loss Averted, No Casualties
A substantial blaze erupted in eight furniture establishments within a scrap market situated in Keshav Nagar, Lucknow. Property valued at approximately ₹20 lakh was destroyed, but fortunately, no lives were lost. The incident transpired on Monday night in the Keshav Nagar area near Madiyaon. The firefighting operation required the efforts of five fire tenders, and it took nearly three hours to bring the situation under control.
The fire alert was received at 11:36 pm, prompting the dispatch of three fire tankers from the Bakshi Ka Talab fire station, along with one each from the fire stations at Chowk and Indira Nagar. A contingent of 50 fire personnel played a crucial role in suppressing the flames. “There was no loss of life,” affirmed Prashant Kumar, the fire station officer at Bakshi Ka Talab.
According to Kumar, the rapid spread of the fire was facilitated by the combustible nature of the shop structures, constructed with materials such as foil, bamboo, and wood. This led to the swift engulfing of the entire market. Shop owners Danish, Zubair, and Hanif, who were directly impacted by the incident, estimated the loss of goods to be around ₹20 lakh. Fortunately, due to the timely containment efforts, the fire did not extend to the nearby slum area.
