LG-Sinha Visits doda Bus-Accident Victims, Authorizes Relief Funds
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the victims of a bus accident in the Doda district, currently receiving treatment at the Government Medical College in Jammu.
During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor was briefed on the health conditions of the injured individuals. He took the time to meet with the medical team and staff, emphasizing the imperative of exerting every possible effort in ensuring the comprehensive treatment of the victims.

Tragically, the accident, which occurred on the Batote-Kishtwar national highway near Trungal-Assar, claimed the lives of 38 people, while 19 others sustained injuries. The bus, carrying 55 passengers, skidded off the road, tumbling 300 feet downhill.
Lt Governor Sinha promptly authorized an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh for the families of each deceased individual, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. Additionally, he sanctioned Rs 1 lakh for each of the injured, underscoring the commitment to providing all necessary assistance to the affected families.
Expressing his condolences and support, Lt Governor Sinha conveyed through a tweet, “An ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each will be provided to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate bus accident in Assar, Doda. Rs 1 lakh will be extended to those injured. The J&K UT Administration stands ready to offer every conceivable aid to the affected families.”
