In an exciting moment for cricket enthusiasts in Jammu and Kashmir, the arrival of International Cricket Superstars, including Kevin Peterson, Harbhajan Singh, and Aaron Finch, was warmly welcomed by the locals.
The cricket stars have gathered in the winter capital of the Union Territory to participate in four matches of the ongoing Legend League Cricket.After a hiatus of over three decades, cricket fans are eagerly anticipating the chance to watch their favorite players live on the field. Harbhajan Singh, leading the Manipal Tigers, is set to clash with Aaron Finch’s Southern Superstars in a Legend League Cricket match under floodlights at Maulana Azad Stadium.

This marks a significant occasion for the region, with the last international match held at the venue dating back to December 19, 1988, between India and New Zealand.Stringent security measures have been put in place for the matches scheduled on November 27, November 29, November 30, and December 01. With the 20,000-capacity Maulana Azad Stadium reported to be sold out, a sizable crowd is expected to witness the thrilling matches.Jammu is buzzing with excitement, and as an official remarked, “The city will feel the heat on the cold nights of November while watching their dream players in action at Maulana Azad Stadium tomorrow.”
The opening match between Manipal Tigers and Southern Super Stars is set to kick off at 7 PM on Monday.Security arrangements are robust, with the commando wing of the J&K Police deployed in and around the venue. A two-tier security system includes barricades, scanning, X-ray machines, and metal detectors at entry and exit points. Sharpshooters on rooftops and CCTV monitoring from a control room further ensure a secure environment.Vehicles transporting cricketers, officials, and security forces are permitted to enter the venue, with designated parking areas for other vehicles.
Restrictions on items like water bottles, food, or inflammable substances inside the venue are in place, and food stalls for spectators have been organized by the organizers.The Legends League Cricket, featuring former international players such as Irfan Pathan, Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, and more, promises an action-packed tournament.
Matches are scheduled in Jammu until December 1, contributing to the 22-day-long league played across five cities in India. Raman Raheja, Co-Founder and CEO of Legends League Cricket, expressed delight at bringing the tournament to Jammu, emphasizing their commitment to taking cricket to every corner of the nation.
