JKP to Host 23rd All-India-Police Water Sports Championship Commencing March 2
Vijay Kumar, the Additional Director General of Police Armed Jammu & Kashmir, led a preparatory meeting at the Conference Hall PCR Srinagar to assess the arrangements for the 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023-24. The championship, hosted by the Jammu & Kashmir Police, is scheduled to take place at the Back Lawn of SKICC Srinagar from March 2 to 8, 2024.
During the meeting, the ADGP reviewed the comprehensive preparations made by various committees to ensure the smooth and successful execution of the event. Anticipating the participation of twenty-eight teams from different Central and State Police organizations, including 22 Men’s and 6 Women’s teams, each comprising 30 players, the championship is expected to attract over 800 athletes nationwide. The competition will feature Canoeing, Kayaking, and Rowing.
On March 2nd, a meeting with managers and other technical officials will determine the group distribution of teams through a draw. The ADGP emphasized the need for meticulous attention to even the smallest details related to the event’s execution, urging the organizing staff to ensure flawless arrangements to make the championship a grand success.
Additionally, discussions included the provision of critical care ambulances with necessary equipment and doctors. The ADGP directed officers to enforce a strong police presence in and around the venue to ensure the safety of participants. Special emphasis was placed on maintaining a vigilant stance against anti-national elements to prevent any untoward incidents during the championship.
Kuldeep Handoo, DySP (Sports) APHQ, provided an overview of the arrangements assigned to different officers for the event’s smooth conduct. Officers from Kashmir and Jammu, including Vidhi Kumar Birdi, IGP Kashmir; Shahid Mehraj, DIG AP Kashmir; Abdul Qayoom, DIG IR Kashmir; Rajiv Omprakash Pande, DIG CKR; Azhar Bashir, Dr. Khalid Parveiz, Medical Superintendent Police Hospital Srinagar; SSP APCR Kashmir; Suhail Mir-SSP; Tanveer Jeelani-SSP; Muzaffar Ah. Shah-SSP; Commandants & Dy. Commandants of Kashmir based battalions/border battalions, Fayaz Yaseen, SP Telecom Kashmir; Farooq Ahmad Mir, Farhat Jeelani-SP; Sr. P.O PTS Manigam, among others, attended the meeting.
