    After more than three decades, Jammu’s Maulana Azad Stadium is set to illuminate with floodlights, welcoming cricketing legends from around the globe—a thrilling prospect that has stirred anticipation among fans.

    Established in 1966, the Maulana Azad Stadium serves as one of the home grounds for the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team. The venue’s last international match occurred on December 19, 1988, when India faced New Zealand, after which militancy disruptions kept it off the international cricket radar. Now, as part of the ongoing second season, the city of temples is slated to host four matches.The day-night series in Jammu kicks off on Monday at 7 pm, featuring the Manipal Tigers led by Harbhajan Singh against the Southern Super Stars captained by Australian cricketer Aaron Finch.

    This is followed by a clash between the Irfan Pathan-led Bhilwara Kings and the Southern Super Stars on Wednesday.The eleventh match of the Legend League Cricket Season 2 will witness India Capitals, led by Gautam Gambhir, facing off against Parthiv Patel’s Gujarat Giants on Thursday at 7 pm.

    The fourth and final match in Jammu will take place on Friday, starting at 3 pm, with Bhilwara Kings challenging Suresh Raina’s Urbanrisers Hyderabad.Jammu will witness the arrival of over 100 former cricketing greats, including Mohammad Kaif, Yusuf Pathan, S. Sreesanth, Robin Uthappa from India, as well as international stars like Shane Watson (Australia), Tilakarante Dilshan (Sri Lanka), Chris Gayle, Ricardo Powell, Dwanye Smith, and Tino Best (West Indies), Kevin O’Brien (Ireland), Hashim Amla and Morne Morkel (South Africa), Kevin Petersen (England), Abdur Razzak (Bangladesh), Ross Taylor, Martin Guptill (New Zealand), and Asghar Afghan (Afghanistan).Raman Raheja, Co-founder and CEO of Legends League Cricket, expressed excitement about bringing international cricket back to Jammu after 30 years, highlighting the convergence of 120 world-renowned players for competitive cricket in the city.

    Raheja acknowledged the overwhelming response from fans, with 50% of the 20,000 capacity stadium’s tickets already sold. The Legends League Cricket teams, with former BCCI curators, have been on the ground for a month, preparing for these historic matches in Jammu.

    He extended gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir administration for their support, mentioning the expected attendance of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha at one of the matches.Ensuring a smooth conduct of the matches, Inspector General of Police, Jammu zone, Anand Jain, chaired a meeting to review deployment, law and order, and security measures. The IGP emphasized foolproof arrangements in terms of security, traffic management, transportation, and player accommodation.Local cricket enthusiasts expressed their excitement, grateful to the organizers for selecting Jammu as a tournament venue.

    Manav Sharma, a fan, noted the rare opportunity for locals to witness cricket stars in action, while Rakesh Kaul believed that these matches would boost the morale of young cricketers in the region.The final leg of Legends League Cricket Season 2 is scheduled at Surat’s Lalbhai Contractor Stadium between December 5 and 9.
