Jammu Train Delayed by Bomb Hoax Call, Passenger Arrested: Driven by Unemployment, Frustrated Man Attempts Suicide
Reports surfaced detailing a delay in the Ahmedabad-Jammu Tawi Express, attributed to a passenger who missed the train and subsequently made a bomb hoax call, revealing a troubling tale of a young man’s desperation due to prolonged unemployment.
The individual, identified as Amit Singh from Rajasthan, boarded the train but failed to catch it before departure. He dialed the Ahmedabad city police control room, falsely alleging the presence of a bomb aboard the train.
Upon receiving the call, authorities halted the train at Mehsana station, initiating a meticulous inspection that lasted about one and a half hours. Despite thorough scrutiny with bomb disposal and dog squads, no suspicious items were found.
Interestingly, an unclaimed bag containing a phone number and address led police to Amit Singh, the same man who missed the train. Singh’s arrest revealed a distressing truth: he resided in Gujarat, facing severe unemployment, which had driven him to contemplate suicide. His intention was to travel to Jodhpur on the train to carry out this tragic act. Inside the unclaimed bag, authorities discovered a bottle of pesticide, intended for Singh’s desperate attempt at self-harm.
Following the bomb hoax incident, Singh boarded another train and was apprehended at Unjha railway station. Police took him into custody, filed an FIR, and arranged a medical examination. It is likely that Singh will face charges for both the hoax call and attempting to take his own life. This incident underscores the grim consequences of extended joblessness and the dire need for mental health support in such circumstances.
