Jammu and Kashmir Leads in E-Governance with 1028 Online Services

Union Territory Secures Top Position in National e-services Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) Report

Jammu and Kashmir has achieved a remarkable milestone in e-governance by providing over 1028 online services to citizens, institutions, and businesses. According to the National e-services Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) report released by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) of the Government of India, Jammu and Kashmir secured the topmost position with an impressive 1028 e-services, surpassing Madhya Pradesh with 1010 e-services and Kerala with 911 e-services.

    A Landmark Achievement

This achievement places Jammu and Kashmir at the forefront of Indian states and union territories in the provision of e-services. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha commended the efforts of all government departments, emphasizing the commitment to provide ease, convenience, and accessibility of services to the common people through digital governance. This accomplishment is reshaping the social landscape, enhancing citizen satisfaction, ensuring transparency and accountability, and empowering the region’s aspiring and talented youth.

    Citizens-First Approach

The digital transformation in Jammu and Kashmir is driven by a “citizens-first” approach and a commitment to empowering the public. The state has witnessed an exponential increase in online services, from 35 services in 2019 to 1028 services as of now. This transformation has resulted in increased transparency, accountability, and efficiency at all levels of governance, leading to a reduction in corruption and higher citizen satisfaction.

    Amendments and Integration

To further enhance service delivery and accountability, the government has amended the Public Services Guarantee Act (PSGA), 2011 to bring online services under its ambit. Around 300 services have been included under the auto-escalation mechanism to ensure time-bound delivery and impose penalties for service delays. Integration with systems like Digilocker, Aadhaar, e-payment/SMS Gateways has also improved convenience for citizens.

    Recognition and Support

The Union Secretary of DARPG, V Srinivas, congratulated the UT Government for this remarkable achievement. He highlighted the role of the NeSDA framework in catalyzing improvements in the volume and quality of e-services. The achievement stands as a testament to the UT Government’s commitment to revolutionizing governance through technology, and DARPG has set a benchmark for states and UTs across the nation.

This achievement reflects the government’s dedication to providing accessible and efficient services to its citizens, fostering transparency, and advancing digital governance.
