Jacqueline Fernandez Seeks Restraining Order Against Sukesh Chandrashekhar
Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez has taken legal action, filing a plea in Delhi’s Patiala House Court to halt conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar from issuing any further communications, either directly or indirectly, addressed to her.
Alleging unsolicited and troubling letters from Chandrashekhar to various media platforms, Jacqueline asserts that these publications create distressing and alarming situations for her, significantly impacting her safety and well-being.
Fernandez is a protected witness in the ongoing Economic Offence Wing (EOW) investigation into the Rs 200 crore money-laundering and extortion case involving Chandrashekhar.
The EOW, supporting Jacqueline’s plea, highlighted the accused’s habit of sending intimidating letters to media platforms, causing direct harassment to her and affecting her professional commitments.
The court has scheduled further hearings for January 17, 2023, considering the grave concerns expressed by the investigating agency regarding the coercion and threats faced by an important witness in the case.
Moreover, Jacqueline Fernandez has also approached the Delhi High Court, seeking to annul the ECIR (FIR) and supplementary chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate in the same Rs 200 crore money laundering case.
She claimed the Directorate’s selective treatment, emphasizing the exoneration of Nora Fatehi despite her alleged familial association with Chandrashekhar, and questioned why other artists involved had not been arraigned as accused.
The Enforcement Directorate’s case against Jacqueline is centered on a single news article shared with her, implying her potential awareness of Sukesh’s imprisonment while accepting gifts from him, leading to allegations of money laundering.
Jacqueline, a Sri Lankan national residing in India since 2009, and a renowned figure in Bollywood, refutes these accusations as baseless and asserts that she is an essential witness to prove the prosecution’s version in the case.
