J-K labour-department rescues eight-child-labourers in Srinagar
In a campaign to eradicate child labour, the labour department of Jammu and Kashmir rescued at least eight juveniles from different areas of Srinagar in the last two days.
The department had planned the child rescue drive in Lal Chowk and its nearby areas of Srinagar to inspect the presence of child labor in the city and to raise awareness among the people about the harmful effects of child labour.

Arshid Qadir, the Assistant Labour Commissioner of Srinagar, said that a team of labour department officials searched various shops in Lal Chowk in the past two days and discovered two juveniles working at Shakti Sweet Shop Srinagar.
He said, “The officials rescued the juveniles on the spot and instructed the shop owner to provide proof of age within two days, otherwise they would face legal action.”
