Iran Agrees to Open Strait Of Hormuz After China’s Intervention, President Trump Accepts the Two-Week Ceasefire
Stepping back from the threat of a massive military strike against Tehran and hinting at the removal of an entire civilization, President Donald Trump has agreed to a ceasefire plan which will stand for two weeks.
In a social media post on Truth Social, Donald Trump stated that the United States has received a 10-point proposal accepted by the United States, as put forward by Pakistan, and the two-week window will be an eye-opening opportunity to work toward a final agreement with Iran.
The proposal put forward by Pakistan stated the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
As The New York Times, citing three Iranian officials, reported, China played a key role at the very end. China is a close Iranian ally and had earlier warned Israel of consequences if a nuclear attack occurred. It has also been widely reported by global media that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has approved the ceasefire plan.
Prior to this, the United States had warned of hitting civilian and infrastructure targets with a massive military strike if Tehran failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and did not reach any concrete agreement.
On this, Iran made it clear that it would accept the demand only if there was an end to hostilities, reconstruction compensation was paid for the damages, and a permanent guarantee against any future attacks was ensured.
Iran also accepted the ceasefire, as its Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi posted a statement on X, stating, “In response to the brotherly request of PM Sharif in his tweet, and considering the request by the US for negotiations based on its 15-point proposal, as well as the announcement by POTUS about acceptance of the general framework of Iran’s 10-point proposal as a basis for negotiations, I hereby declare on behalf of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council: If attacks against Iran are halted, our Powerful Armed Forces will cease their defensive operations. For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran’s Armed Forces and with due consideration of technical limitations.”
However, it is being seen as a major step, as the global economy has gone down to a very critical level after Iran refused to open the Strait of Hormuz.
But Iran played its cards wisely, stating that the Strait of Hormuz is open, but not for its enemies, whereas digital mocking also took its course. Iran’s embassy in Zimbabwe mocked Donald Trump for “having lost the keys” after Trump demanded, “Reopen the Strait of Hormuz.”
As per sources, Pakistan mediated between the United States and Iran to avoid the war spreading across the region.
