Inter-Panchayat sports events cum Awareness programme on Maintenance & Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act in Doda

Doda, October 2: Social Welfare Department Doda organized Inter-Panchayat, sports events cum Awareness programmes on Maintenance and Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act 2007, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti today at Doda, Bhaderwah and Gandoh.

These programmes were conducted on the directions of Commisioner Secretary to Govt Social Welfare Department, under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Doda Tariq Qazi.

Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 is a legislation, initiated by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India to provide more effective provision for maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens.

It makes legal obligations for children and heirs to provide maintenance to senior citizens and parents by monthly allowance.

It also provides simple, speedy and inexpensive mechanism for the protection of life and property of older persons.
