The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed that the India Men’s U19 cricket team is set to participate in a tri-series ahead of the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup in South Africa. This series will showcase encounters between India U19, South Africa U19, and Afghanistan U19, to be held at the Old Edwardians Cricket Club, Johannesburg. Each team is scheduled to compete against the others twice.

Commencing their campaign against Afghanistan U19 on December 29, India U19 will later face South Africa U19 on January 2, 2024. The final showdown is slated for January 10, 2024. This tri-series serves as crucial preparation for India’s U19 squad as they gear up for the imminent World Cup.

Earlier, the BCCI announced the U19 squad for the World Cup, appointing Uday Saharan as captain. Saharan will lead the defending champions during the 2024 ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa, scheduled for January and February. India boasts a remarkable history in this event, securing five U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup titles over the years.

The upcoming ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 will feature 16 teams competing across four locations in South Africa. The participating teams have been divided into four groups, each comprising four teams. A total of 41 matches will be played, with the tournament culminating in the final scheduled for February.

India, as defending champions, will compete alongside Bangladesh, Ireland, and the USA in Group A. The other groups include prominent cricketing nations like England, South Africa, West Indies, Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, New Zealand, among others.

India’s U19 squad for the tri-series includes Arshin Kulkarni, Adarsh Singh, Rudra Mayur Patel, and others, with Uday Saharan leading the team and Saumy Kumar Pandey serving as vice-captain. Several backup players have also been named to support the squad during the tournament.
