Indian Navy Joins RIMPAC 2024 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor with P8I Aircraft and INS Shivalik

The Indian Navy’s P8I aircraft is actively participating in the multilateral exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) in Hawaii. The base, located on the island of Oahu, hosts various military activities. The Indian Navy shared a video on X, showcasing the P8I aircraft landing after completing an anti-submarine mission with the US Navy and other participating navies.
Additionally, the Indian multi-role stealth frigate INS Shivalik, which has been mission-deployed in the South China Sea and North Pacific Ocean, arrived at Pearl Harbor on June 29 to participate in the 29th edition of RIMPAC, the world’s largest naval exercise. INS Shivalik arrived following the conclusion of JIMEX 24, a bilateral exercise between India and Japan.
The Indian Navy announced the frigate’s arrival on X, highlighting the professional interactions, cross-deck visits, workshops, and team-building sessions scheduled during the harbor phase from June 27 to July 7. The sea phase of RIMPAC-24 is divided into three sub-phases, involving both basic and advanced level integration exercises.
RIMPAC-24 spans over six weeks of intense operations and training, aimed at enhancing interoperability and building trust among the navies of friendly foreign countries. Led by the US Navy, the exercise features approximately 29 countries in the current edition. The exercise provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants, critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and the security of the world’s oceans.
