India-UAE Joint Military Exercise ‘Desert Cyclone’ Kicks Off in Rajasthan
The commencement of the two-week-long India-UAE joint military exercise ‘Desert Cyclone’ has been announced in Rajasthan, with 45 personnel representing each country’s forces.
The exercise, slated to run until January 15, is being held in Mahajan, Rajasthan, where the UAE Land Forces contingent, represented by troops from the Zayed First Brigade, has arrived to participate. The Indian Army contingent, comprising mainly a battalion from the Mechanised Infantry Regiment, is also actively engaged in the exercise.
Focused on enhancing interoperability in sub-conventional operations, particularly fighting in built-up areas (FIBUA), within desert or semi-desert terrains under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter on Peacekeeping Operations, the exercise aims to bolster cooperation and interoperability between both sides, especially during peacekeeping operations.
Planned drills during ‘Desert Cyclone’ encompass various tactical maneuvers such as establishing a Joint Surveillance Centre, conducting Cordon and Search Operations, executing Domination of Built-Up Areas, and engaging in Heliborne Operations. The exercise is designed to facilitate collaborative partnerships and promote the exchange of best practices between the participating forces.
This joint military exercise signifies the continued strengthening of friendly ties and trust between India and the UAE. Additionally, it aims to align and further the shared security objectives of both nations, serving as a cornerstone in nurturing and advancing the bilateral relations between these two friendly countries.
