India Test and ODI Plans Hit as Shami and Chahar Face Setbacks
India’s two-match Test series against South Africa has suffered a setback as senior pacer Mohammed Shami has been ruled out, according to an announcement by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday.
Shami, who was initially included in the Test squad contingent upon his fitness, did not receive clearance from the board’s medical team for the upcoming series.

In addition to Shami, pace-bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar has been withdrawn from the One Day International (ODI) squad. Chahar conveyed to the BCCI that he will be unavailable for the upcoming ODI series due to a family medical emergency.
The Men’s Selection Committee, in response to this development, has named Akash Deep as Chahar’s replacement, as stated in the BCCI’s official statement.
