Hike in Petrol and Diesel Prices, Petrol Reaches Rs 102.12 Per Litre in Delhi

NEW DELHI, MAY 25, 2026 [VoM News]: Amid the ongoing Middle East crisis leading to disruptions in global energy supplies, the impact on fuel prices is now being witnessed. For the fourth time in just 11 days, the prices of diesel and petrol have been increased.

Adding fresh pressure on consumers already facing inflation, petrol prices in Delhi have crossed the ₹100-per-litre mark.

An increase of ₹2.61 per litre in petrol prices took the new rate to ₹102.12, while diesel prices were hiked by ₹2.71 to reach ₹95.20 per litre. Meanwhile, CNG prices in Delhi were also increased by Re 1 per kg to ₹81.09.

Major cities like Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai have also recorded a similar hike in petrol and diesel prices.

Despite Brent crude falling below $100 per barrel, Indian oil companies are still incurring losses due to elevated import costs and disruptions caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Due to the hike in fuel prices, essential commodities, household items and logistics services are expected to become more costly, creating a major impact on consumers.
