Haryana Triumphs Over Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh Victorious Against Rajasthan in Nagesh Trophy
In the ongoing sixth edition of the Nagesh Trophy – Men’s National T20 Cricket Tournament for the Blind 2023-24, Haryana secured a significant victory by defeating Tamil Nadu by 51 runs, while Andhra Pradesh emerged victorious against Rajasthan by 24 runs at the JK Pavilion Stadium in Kota.
The Kota-leg’s Group A witnessed an intense clash between Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, marking the final leg of the League stage in the tournament. In the first match, Haryana showcased an exceptional performance, posting a challenging total of 229/3 in 20 overs. Tamil Nadu, in response, managed 178/7, falling short by 51 runs. Bhupender Malik’s impressive century, scoring 100 runs off 65 balls for Haryana, earned him the Player of the Match title.
The second game witnessed Andhra Pradesh opting to bat and setting a formidable target of 173 runs by scoring 172/5 in 17 overs. Rajasthan, in pursuit of the target, fell short by 24 runs, scoring below the mark. Andhra Pradesh’s captain, Durga Rao, played a pivotal role by smashing 70 runs off 39 balls, securing the Player of the Match accolade.
On Day 4 of the Kota leg at the JK Pavilion Stadium, Haryana is set to face Andhra Pradesh, while Tamil Nadu will battle Himachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the Tripura leg in Group F concluded with Tripura seizing the top spot in the points table after a win against Assam. Chhattisgarh secured the second position by defeating Manipur in their last league match.
The Nagesh Trophy began its journey on November 23, featuring the Group E teams at the University of Jammu. The tournament is slated to continue until February 2, 2024, with the League stage scheduled to run until December 29, 2023.
