Excitement Builds as Women’s Premier League 2024 Kicks Off
The highly anticipated Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 is scheduled to commence on February 23, featuring an action-packed opener between last year’s champions, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The league promises a double dose of cricket fever as Delhi and Bengaluru host the matches, with the summit clash set for March 17 in New Delhi and the eliminator on March 15.
Five Teams Ready to Compete for the Prestigious Trophy
Five formidable teams, namely UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Mumbai Indians, are geared up to showcase their talent and compete for the prestigious WPL trophy. The teams have already finalized their squads through the WPL 2024 auction, with Kashvee Gautam making history as the most expensive uncapped player, securing a staggering INR 2 crore deal with Gujarat Giants.
WPL 2024 Season Structure and Playoffs Format
The upcoming WPL season will mirror the successful structure of the previous year, with the top three teams from the league stage advancing to the playoffs. The team finishing first in the league standings earns a direct spot in the final, while the second and third-placed teams will battle it out in the Eliminator on March 15. Last year’s champions, Mumbai Indians, led by India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, will aim to defend their title in what promises to be another thrilling season of women’s cricket.
