    The Jammu and Kashmir Election Office has suspended 23 government officials and disengaged six contractual or ad-hoc employees for violating Model Code of Conduct (MCC) guidelines during the ongoing 2024 assembly elections.

    Additionally, 20 employees were transferred to different tehsils and districts after complaints of partisan behavior.

    Enforcement agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have made seizures totaling Rs 130 crore, with the highest amount—Rs 107.50 crore—recovered by the Police Department.

    Other significant seizures include Rs 9.88 crore by the CGST, Rs 8.03 crore by the SGST/CT, Rs 2.06 crore by the NCB, Rs 87 lakh by the Income Tax Department, and Rs 50 lakh by the State Excise Department.

    Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) P.K. Pole stated that 7,088 permissions have been granted to political parties and candidates for activities such as rallies, processions, opening party offices, and vehicle use.

    These permissions also cover helicopters, hoardings, and canvassing efforts across the state.

    So far, 1,263 MCC violations have been reported. Of these, 600 cases have been resolved, while 364 are still under investigation. Notices have been issued to 115 candidates, political parties, media outlets, and others for alleged MCC violations.

    In response to illegal activities like transporting drugs, cash, and liquor, 32 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered.

    Enforcement agencies continue to take stringent actions to maintain law and order during the election process.
