Donald Trump Warns Iran: US Will Resume Bombing If No Deal Is Reached
U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that the United States may resume bombing Iran if no nuclear deal is reached once the current ceasefire expires, escalating tensions amid ongoing indirect negotiations. Speaking to reporters, Trump said that while a deal “is going to happen,” failure to reach an agreement could force renewed military action, including airstrikes against Iranian targets.
The remarks come after inconclusive direct talks between the U.S. and Iran last weekend, where key disagreements over Iran’s nuclear programme remained unresolved. Trump also claimed that Iran is ready to hand over its “nuclear dust”—a term he uses to describe highly enriched uranium believed to be buried under facilities targeted in earlier U.S. strikes. However, there has been no confirmation from Iranian authorities or mediators.
According to Trump, the U.S. insists there will be “no enrichment of uranium” and plans to remove all buried nuclear material from Iranian sites. The claim is significant because Iran is believed to possess large stockpiles of enriched uranium that could potentially be used for weapons development, though Tehran maintains its programme is for civilian energy purposes.
The report also highlights ongoing tensions over the International Atomic Energy Agency-monitored sites, where much of Iran’s nuclear material is believed to be stored deep underground, including at Natanz and Isfahan.
Despite diplomatic efforts, uncertainty persists over whether Iran will agree to surrender its enriched uranium stockpile, a step Washington views as critical to preventing nuclear weapon development. Trump suggested further talks could take place over the weekend, while simultaneously maintaining pressure through military threats and a blockade strategy linked to broader regional conflicts.
