Doda Police Arrests 02 Bootleggers Held With Illicit Liquor, Vehicle Seized

May, 30-2025: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Doda District has apprehended two bootleggers with huge quantity of illicit liquor from their possession.

Giving details, officials sources has said that on 28-05-2025, a Police party of Police Station Thathri was on naka checking duty near PS Thathri, During naka checking at about 20:30 hrs one ECCO car bearing registration No. JK06A-9708 was intercepted and stopped for checking and found driver along with one co-passenger travelling in the said vehicle.

On inquiry, both the persons identified as Bir Singh S/O Lekh Raj R/O Seri Bhalla Thesil Bhaderwah as driver and co-passenger Kartar Singh S/O Bajra Thakur R/O Bhalwana Tehsil Mohalla District Doda. During checking, 50 quarters of liquor of JK special whisky each 180 ml, and 01 quarter of JK special whisky 250 Ml, 02 cane of beer Godfather of 500/500 ml each from the procession of driver of ECO namely Bir Singh S/O Lekh Raj R/O Seri Bhalla Thesil Bhaderwah and from the possession of co-passanger namely Kartar Singh S/O Bajra Thakur R/O Bhalwana Tehsil Mohalla District Doda ,34 quarters of JK special whisky of 250/250 ml each, 1 quarters of Imperial Blue each of 180/180 ml and 13 cane of beer Godfather were recovered.

During questioning both the accused persons could not produce any permission and has purchased the said liquor illegally for selling purpose.

Accordingly a case FIR No. 28/2025 US 48(A) Excise Act got registered at PS Thathri and investigation of the case set into motion besides vehicle involved in the above said offence has been seized.

Doda Police has launched special drive against bootleggers /drug smugglers to eradicate the menace of drug peddling, manufacturing/ selling of illicit liquor, from the District. *SSP Doda Sh Sandeep Mehta- JKPS* has appealing the general public to cooperate with Police and provide information/ inputs if any drug smuggling /selling of illicit liquor /bovine smuggling or any kind of criminal activity is noticed in their neighborhood, so that timely action could be taken.
