Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA) recently made a significant announcement that will reshape the leadership landscape of the telecom industry. Dhananjay Joshi, the Managing Director and CEO of Summit Digital, has been appointed as the new Chairman of DIPA, taking over from Akhil Gupta, Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, who had been at the helm of the industry body since 2011.
Sandeep Girotra Assumes the Role of Vice Chairman
In an official statement released by DIPA, Sandeep Girotra, the CEO of American Tower India, was named as the new Vice Chairman of the association. These changes in leadership will officially come into effect from October 1, 2023. This transition marks a significant moment for the telecommunications industry in India, as Dhananjay Joshi and Sandeep Girotra step into their respective roles, bringing their expertise and vision to guide DIPA into a new era.
Leadership Announced at Annual General Body Meeting
The stage for this transformation was set during DIPA’s annual general body meeting for the term 2022-23. The industry body took this opportunity to announce the leadership changes that will shape its direction for the term 2023-24. Dhananjay Joshi, now the Chairman of DIPA, has taken over from Akhil Gupta, who had diligently served as Chairman since 2011. Concurrently, Sandeep Girotra has assumed the role of Vice-Chairman, succeeding Amit Sharma, the former Vice-Chairman and EVP at American Tower Corporation (ATC).

In a notable development, Akhil Gupta has graciously accepted the request of the executive committee members to hold the position of Patron Member within DIPA. This gesture underscores the importance of continuity and experience within the association’s leadership structure.
