Poonch, Sept 28: District Election Officer (DEO) Vikas Kundal convened a key meeting at the DC Office Conference Hall on Saturday to finalize preparations for the upcoming vote counting for the Legislative Assembly Elections 2024. The counting will take place on October 8, 2024, at Poonch, covering three assembly constituencies—Surankote, Haveli, and Mendhar.
The meeting saw participation from senior officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Poonch, Returning Officers, and others. DEO Kundal underscored the importance of ensuring a seamless and transparent process, emphasizing that all activities will be conducted under strict security and constant camera surveillance.
A media cell will be established at the counting center to relay real-time vote count updates to authorities. This dedicated cell aims to improve information flow and maintain transparency throughout the counting process.
The media cell will also serve as a central hub for relaying results as they come in, ensuring timely reporting to both officials and the public.
To ensure the smooth functioning of the counting process, DEO Kundal directed key departments, including the XEN PDD, XEN PWD, and DIO NIC, to ensure that power supply, IT infrastructure, and connectivity are fully operational with no disruptions on counting day.
Additionally, micro-observers and security personnel will be deployed to oversee the process and maintain order.
All officials involved were urged to finalize arrangements before October 8 to ensure the counting at Poonch proceeds efficiently for the Surankote, Haveli, and Mendhar constituencies.
