Delhi Court Grants Regular Bail to Sarvesh Mishra in Excise Policy Case
The Rouse Avenue court in Delhi has permitted the hearing of the plea filed by accused Sarvesh Mishra in connection with the excise policy case. Mishra, who has been charge-sheeted along with AAP MP Sanjay Singh in a money laundering case, was granted regular bail. The court, presided over by Special Judge MK Nagpal, accepted the bail plea upon furnishing a bail bond of Rs one lakh. Notably, Mishra had not been arrested during the investigation and was already out on interim bail.
Legal Developments in AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s Money Laundering Case
The court’s decision follows legal proceedings related to the money laundering case involving AAP MP Sanjay Singh and his associate Sarvesh Mishra. The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) had filed a supplementary prosecution complaint against them. Sanjay Singh was arrested by the ED on October 4, 2023, and has since faced legal scrutiny. The case revolves around allegations of kickbacks from liquor groups in the Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.
ED’s Allegations and Investigation Details
The ED has asserted that Sanjay Singh, along with his associates, conspired to collect kickbacks from liquor groups, causing financial losses to the state exchequer. The agency has undertaken extensive search operations and filed multiple chargesheets in the case. The excise policy case has been a contentious issue, with ED linking key political figures, including former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, to the alleged conspiracy. The AAP has vehemently denied the charges, emphasizing that the excise policy was not influenced by corruption.
