DC-Doda reviews Progress under JJM
Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh of Doda convened a meeting today to assess the advancements in the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) initiatives throughout the district. The session took place in the mini meeting hall of the DC office complex, where the Deputy Commissioner steered discussions on the implementation of JJM projects. Singh urged stakeholders to accelerate the pace of progress on all ongoing JJM schemes, with a goal to finalize the 185 projects underway across the district by the year-end, ensuring access to safe tap water for every household. Stressing the importance of timely payments to contractors, Singh addressed potential impediments and pledged to resolve obstacles hindering project execution.
Earlier in the meeting, DC Doda recognized the outstanding performance of the members of the Pani Samiti under the JJM schemes by presenting them with Abhinandan Pattras.

During the session, the DC conducted a comprehensive review of the progress over the past six months, with a focus on the activities within the Jal Shakti divisions, including Doda, Bhaderwah, Gandoh, and Kishtwar divisions. The total estimated cost for the 185 JJM schemes was reported at Rs 748.31 crores.
Singh set a target for 85 percent completion by the end of 2023 and instructed concerned officers to ensure that slow sand filtration plants are completed by March 15.Contractor associations raised concerns during the meeting, particularly highlighting issues such as delayed billing processes, transportation challenges for raw materials, and difficulties related to GI and HDPE pipes.
The DC directed officers to promptly address these concerns. Additionally, it was informed during the meeting that 79 percent of tap connections had already been established under the JJM scheme in the district.
DC Doda urged officials to work diligently, emphasizing the public benefits and ensuring the completion of all works by December.The meeting, attended by key officials, including the Chief Planning Officer (CPO) of Doda, the Superintending Engineer of Hydraulic Circle Doda, and XENs of JSD, aimed to align efforts for the successful implementation of the mission and address challenges impeding its progress.
The gathering underscored the district’s commitment to providing safe and reliable drinking water to residents through the JJM projects.
