DODA, OCTOBER 02: Today, a remarkable Paryavaran rally celebrating Gandhi Jayanti 2023 unfolded in Doda, orchestrated by the Department of Forest, Ecology, and Environment, Doda Forest Division. The rally served a dual purpose: raising awareness about the paramount importance of environmental conservation and paying homage to the great Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.

    Marching for a Greener Tomorrow

The rally commenced its journey from the Forest Division Office in Doda, winding its way towards the Sports Stadium. Enthusiastic participants proudly brandished banners and placards adorned with slogans championing the use of eco-friendly alternatives to plastic and underscoring the pivotal role of tree planting in safeguarding our environment and the lives it sustains.

DC Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, in his address, drew inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s iconic words, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world,” urging everyone to embrace their roles in shaping a cleaner, greener future.

A United Front for Environmental Conservation

The Department of Forest, Ecology, and Environment, Doda Forest Division, led the charge in orchestrating this inspiring rally. Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, spearheaded the event alongside Divisional Forest Officer Doda, Ravinder Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development, Phulail Singh, and a cadre of dedicated forest officers and staff.

This event attracted a diverse array of participants, including government officials, forest department personnel, and representatives from various organizations and communities. Several sister wings of the forest departments, such as FPF, JKFDC, Soil & Water Conservation, and Social Forestry, along with school students, contributed actively to the rally’s vibrant atmosphere. It fostered a sense of unity in the shared mission of safeguarding the environment and served as a motivating force for individuals to actively engage in sustainable practices.

    A Tribute to Gandhi’s Vision

The rally cast a spotlight on the profound relevance of Gandhi Jayanti in promoting Gandhian principles of non-violence, truth, and simplicity, which are intrinsically intertwined with the cause of environmental conservation. It offered a poignant reminder of Mahatma Gandhi’s vision for a harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature and our collective responsibility to nurture and preserve our surroundings.
