CSK Unveils Prime Sports Partnership with Iconic MS Dhoni for IPL 2024
Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions, are gearing up for another season with the iconic MS Dhoni leading the charge. Dhoni, the CSK skipper, was recently spotted honing his skills with a bat adorned with the Prime Sports sticker. Interestingly, Prime Sports is owned by Paramjit Singh, a childhood friend of the former Indian cricketer, who played a pivotal role in shaping Dhoni’s early career.
Paramjit, based in Ranchi, has been a significant influence on Dhoni’s journey in cricket, even helping him secure his first bat sponsorship. This connection was highlighted in the film “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story,” showcasing the crucial role Paramjit played in shaping Dhoni’s illustrious career. Pictures from Dhoni’s recent practice session at Paramjit’s shop have been making waves on social media, underscoring the enduring friendship and collaboration between the two.
CSK, having retained Dhoni for IPL 2024, is eager to secure back-to-back titles after their triumph against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 final. In a high-scoring encounter, GT posted 214/4 in 20 overs, setting a challenging target of 215 runs. Sai Sudharsan’s impressive knock of 96 off 47 balls led GT’s batting charge, while Matheesha Pathirana claimed two wickets for CSK.
However, due to the DLS method, CSK’s revised target was 171, and they successfully reached it, scoring 171/5 in 15 overs. Shivam Dube played a crucial role with an unbeaten 32* off 21 balls. GT’s bowling department saw notable performances, with Mohit Sharma taking three wickets.
Renowned as one of the greatest cricket captains in history, Dhoni captained the Indian team in limited-overs formats from 2007 to 2017 and in Tests from 2008 to 2014. His leadership led India to victory in multiple prestigious tournaments, including the 2011 World Cup, 2007 T20 World Cup, and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Throughout his captaincy, India also secured triumphs in the Asia Cup in 2010 and 2016. Dhoni, who made his first-class debut for Bihar in 1999, marked his entry into international cricket on December 23, 2004, in an ODI against Bangladesh, followed by his Test debut against Sri Lanka a year later.
